No, as with meal vouchers or gift vouchers, holiday vouchers can not be exchanged for money.

No, the holiday vouchers Turist Pass can be used only in Romania.

Government Decision no. 614/2015 regarding the modification and completion of the Government Decision no. 215/2009 for the approval of Methodological Norms regarding the granting of holiday vouchers was published in the Official Gazette, Part I, no. 591 of August 6, 2015 and stipulates that the value of the holiday vouchers issued can not exceed in a calendar year the equivalent of six minimum basic salaries.

In the case of public institutions, Government Emergency Ordinance 8/2009 on the granting of holiday vouchers establishes that public institutions and authorities, as well as state-owned economic operators, can offer holiday bonuses exclusively as holiday vouchers equal to wage minimum for economy – 1,450 lei – for each employee

According to the legislation in force, the holiday voucher must contain the following data:

(a) the issuer and its identification data;
b) the nominal value of the holiday voucher;
c) the employer and his identification data;
d) name, surname and personal numerical code of the employee who is entitled to use the holiday voucher;
e) the space for the registration of the period in which it was used and the application of the stamp of the affiliated unit;
f) prohibition of the affiliated unit to pay the difference in money between the value of the holiday voucher and the value of the package to the holiday voucher users;
g) the validity period of the use of the holiday voucher;
h) the prohibition to use the holiday voucher in other places than in the affiliated units, defined according to art. 4 par. (1);
i) the visual identity elements of the tourism brand of Romania.

These vouchers can be used only in accommodation units in Romania and in tourist agencies authorized / licensed by the National Tourism Authority. On the site of this institution will be posted the list of authorized tourist units and beneficiaries can use holiday vouchers based on their ID.

 

All companies that had a profit / incomes in the previous year can offer holiday vouchers, including the public institutions.

Holiday vouchers are granted at any time of the year and have a one-year period of validity from the date of issue on paper or the date of loading on the electronic support (card).

How to use them?

  • Holiday vouchers, either printed or electronically, work in the same way as meal vouchers, with the difference that they can only be used in tourist units:

  • The company purchases the necessary vouchers from a holiday voucher issuer, such as Sodexo

  • Vouchers are offered to employees

  • Employees use vouchers in hotels, boarding houses or travel agencies to purchase tourist packages

  • Tourist establishments and travel agencies reimburse vouchers and the issuing company (Sodexo) pays them the value.
